    Description

If you own one of the following Seeburg jukeboxes, Pay Attention!    LPC-1,  LPC-480, Elektra PFEAIU Discotheque, Fleetwood, and SS-160 Showcase.
This listing is for a Seeburg Auto Speed Unit Capacitor Kit.   I'm hearing that a lot of auto speed units failing lately as these music marvels get older.
    SYMPTOM
: Your jukebox scans and picks a record, then when the needle touches down on the record edge, the turntable stops. Nothing else happens.
    SYMPTOM
: Your jukebox scans and picks a record and starts out playing fine then gets slower and slower and might even stop all together.
    SYMPTOM:
Your jukebox scans and picks a record, plays slow and gradually gets faster and faster until it gets up to normal speed.
With that said, this is likely a lubrication issue.
Chances are that the auto speed unit's capacitors have gone bad or are going bad and need to be replaced. These need to be soldered in place with a pencil iron or solder gun. As always you should solder one wire at a time just to be safe. I have labeled all the capacitors to make them easy to identify and replace. I have also included a schematic of the Auto Speed Unit. This is not rocket science, you can do it.
These parts are located in the Auto Speed Unit that slides out toward you from the lower part of your jukebox. Unplug it and remove it from the jukebox to install the parts. The jukeboxes that are affected are the LPC-1, LPC-480, PFEA1U Discotheque,
    APFEA1
    Fleetwood / Electra, and
    the SS-160 Showcase, 1963 through 1967.
Will this kit fix my jukebox?
If you have the first above symptom, it should. Your jukebox is 50 or so years old. If this doesn't repair it, these need to be replaced any way. If it hasn't failed yet, it will sometime soon.
What if my jukebox still doesn't play right after I replace these parts?
I know this kit should repair the first above symptom. If not, you most likely have more going on than just the auto speed capacitors going bad. The first thing a service man may replace is this capacitor kit so you might as well do it yourself and save a little money.
Do I really need to install
    all
    these capacitors?
No, not necessarily, the large silver capacitor can is most likely, but not always, the trouble. I would install all of the capacitors just because. Remember how old the original ones are? It should take less than a half hour to do.
I can't guarantee that this kit will repair your Jukebox. There are simply too many variables that can cause problems.  90% of the time though, this kit solves the trouble and the jukebox works great again. I'm not a jukebox expert and can't answer all your questions due to time restraints.
    Thanks for understandin

You can also Google "Seeburg repair tips" for a wealth of information on Seeburg repair. I'm quite positive you could find a "You Tube" video on how to change out or "re-cap" your auto speed unit.
I have included schematics, parts lists, and a lubrication chart showing you where to lubricate the record play mechanism.
Note: The big new silver capacitor can you will receive, will be shorter than your original one but will work and install just fine. That's the difference in technology from then to now.
WAIT! THERE'S MORE! I have also included an optional update for you to do. It's easy, it shows how to add in a ground wire to the speed control. At the factory, Seeburg relied on the the metal case of the speed control to make the ground. It's possible that the speed of the turntable could vary from time to time due to the lack of a good ground.  New replacement speed control potentiometers are now available in my eBay store at listing #
